Civilization V Creation Tool

Civilization

Any civilization needs some basic information before it can be created. The most prominent being the need for a name! Civilization V and its modifications follow a general naming scheme. America is noted as CIVILIZATION_AMERICA and Korea is listed as CIVILIZATION_KOREA, to provide two examples. Your civilization's name should also follow this form; CIVILIZATION_MY_CIV

Now that we have a name, we are also going to need some art defines. These add flair to your civilization's cities, as otherwise it would be confusing to see Japan suddenly adopt Greco-Roman architecture! These come provided within Civilization V, so select the one that you want in the dropdown menu.

The Icon Atlas is where your icons will be stored. All Vanilla Civilizations can find their Icon Atlas in CIV_COLOR_ATLAS and their Alpha Atlas in CIV_ALPHA_ATLAS.

Images are the next part. It is important to note that Civilization V only accepts .dds files, as .dds files are the coolest. Write the names of your images for your Map and your Dawn of Man image below, including the .dds tag. Your file should end up looking like; MapBabylon512.dds or DOM_Nebuchadnezzar.dds. Note that after you get your file, you need to set all of your image files to SetVFS=True in the Civilization V Modbuddy.

If you have a voice actor for your Dawn of Man Speech, here is where you make them talk. It is okay to leave this part blank, as audio is not required to build the mod, but remember to set VFS=True again in Modbuddy like you did with the images!

Cities

Cities are the lifeblood of Civilization. Whether you prefer to play tall or wide, there is no denying it, running out of cities is not the best way to play the game. Select the number of cities you wish for your civilization to have, from 1 to 20. The first city in the list will be your capitol. Any cities founded after the player hits your maximum number of cities will behave like the Hunnic UA, and steal names from rival civilizations.

Leaders

Every Civilization has a strong leader backing them, no matter if they are Bismark of Germany, Mao Zedong of the People's Republic of China, or Doctor Doom of Latveria. We wont generate your Leader in this file, but we will reference them here. An example of the proper format for Bismark would be LEADER_BISMARK.

Religion

Regardless of whether or not a civilization manages to accumulate enough faith to found religion, each civilization has a preferred religion that it will try to adopt after gaining enough faith. This will default to RELIGION_ZOROASTRIANISM if no preferred religion is entered, as more Civilizations should prefer it.

Spy Names

Regardless of whether or not they are used for espionage or diplomacy, spies provide an excellent means for civilizations to get ahead in the world without declaring war. If your spy expects female pronouns, check the box to the right of their name.

Unit and Building Overrides

In order for Civilization V to recognize a Civilization, it must have at least two unique units or buildings. The combination of which does not matter. A unique object is recognized within the code as having both a name (how the object is seen in the code), and a class (what existing entity does this object replace). You can also have more unique units or buildings than two, should you so desire, although this editor only allows a maximum of four.

Civilization Color

Civilizations are composed of a border and background color, and these colors will dominate every aspect of your Civilization's appearance. It is expected for the colors you enter here to match the color scheme used for your icon. You can enter the colors for your civilization below, as well as preview your choice in the box to the right.

Lore

A good Civilization is worth learning about. Tell the world more about what to expect from your Civilization. Their goals, their policies, and their history.
